Bio

Aparna Uppaluri trained as an epidemiologist and worked in clinical research and primary care programming for over 14 years in Canada. She is the Founder and Director of the Antara Artists Collective in Bengaluru, India, an organisation focussed on extended practice in traditional performing arts. She teaches Odissi at Antara and is currently pursuing a research programme on dance history and pedagogy with a focus on the body as a site of knowledge production and inquiry. Aparna also leads the Science and Society program at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, TIFR, Bengaluru which seeks to explore the dialogue between history, theory, and practice of knowledge systems. This has led her to exploring the nature of modern science and alternative worldviews.
