Bio

Mahima Varma is a Bengaluru based visual art practitioner and co-founder of Aakar Studio. She holds a Master’s degree from the Bengaluru School of Visual Arts (E), Chitrakala Parishath. Her work explores nature’s resilience and ecological survival in response to human activity. Working with soil, plant fibers, and fungal textures as active collaborators, her practice reflects on the impermanence of life while foregrounding the enduring strength of more-than-human worlds. Her work has been shown at Venkatappa Art Gallery, HH Art Spaces (Goa), and Frida Art House (Pune). Most recently, she was commissioned by the Zinnov Foundation for a public installation at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, presented as part of Mapping Discomfort at Barrack F, BLR Hubba, curated by Kamini Sawhney. She was awarded the Visionaari recognition under ‘Impact Individual’ by Fever FM in 2026.
