TAN-TAN
Bio
TAN-TAN is a multidisciplinary artist based in New Delhi whose practice explores how emerging technologies reshape perception, ritual, memory, and emotional experience. Originally trained in Flemish painting techniques, she began by combining Neo-Classical visual language with Anime and Manga aesthetics, examining how historical forms can be recontextualized within contemporary image culture. Her practice has since expanded into interactive digital environments, video games, avatar performance, AI-driven experiences, and archival installations. Approaching video games as a continuation of art historical traditions of immersive space-making, TAN-TAN creates reality-adjacent worlds governed by computational logic, ritualized interaction, and unstable systems of belief. Her work investigates how algorithmic structures mediate identity, behavior, intimacy, and social experience, often placing viewers inside participatory environments where they must negotiate with opaque technological systems. Recent projects include Reality is Broken, Reality.exe, CODEX-II, The Emotional Engine Project, TAN-TAN: Avatar, and Silicon & Carbon Correspondence. Across these works, she examines digital relics, emotional infrastructures, machine-mediated memory, avatar bodies, and the residues of intimacy between humans and artificial intelligences. Rather than treating technology as neutral, her practice asks how machine systems classify, interpret, and assign value to human actions, and how new forms of ritual, attachment, and vulnerability emerge within these systems.
