Call for Application- Workshop for Women Graphic Artists

The Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi and Zubaan are organizing a workshop for women graphic artists in April 2014. The workshop will be conducted by Ludmilla Bartscht and Larissa Bertonasco from Germany and the Indian artist Priya Kuriyan.
The workshop offers participants the opportunity to develop stories on gender issues, to discuss their ideas and questions of how about how to create stories and render them as graphic stories/novels. Extensive discussions, hands-on exercises, detailed feedback will offer participants the possibility of work in a collaborative way and to expand and deepen their knowledge about art, aesthetics, design and networking.
The workshop will take place in a quiet and green environment at a location on the outskirts of Delhi. Participants and workshop leaders will be located on site and will spend time together working, networking, conversing in peace and quiet.
The workshop will take place from 7 to 13 April 2014.
Only women artists with previous experience in illustration/comics/graphic arts and story telling will be accepted. Participants are required to spend the full week at the workshop and to live on-site. Accommodation will be on a twin-sharing basis. The language of the workshop is English.
Selected participants are required to pay an all-inclusive fee of Rs 10,000.
Selected works produced during the workshop will be published in a graphic story collection by Zubaan.

• an idea for a story on a gender-related topic presented in text or illustration, which you would like to work on during your stay
Deadline for applications: 10 March 2014.
Selections will be made by panel consisting of representatives from Zubaan and Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, in consultation with the workshop leaders, on the basis of works submitted.
