CALL FOR PROJECTS for a Residency at the Darling Foundry, Montreal, Quebec (Canada) from September 30, 2016 to December 16, 2016

Deadline for applications: August 24, 2016

In 2012, the Darling Foundry established its first India Residency Program to benefit artists and the community in order to confront ideas from far away. Along with Indian partners, What About Art? and Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation, as well as Quebec partners, the Chadha Family Foundation and corporation Invera, the Darling Foundry is pleased to launch this year its fourth edition. Applications for projects produced by Indian artists are thus open. The selected artist will be immersed into the dynamic Montreal artistic scene for eleven weeks, from September 30 to December 16, 2016.

The program offers a residency at the Darling Foundry to professional visual artists who are Indian citizens residing in India and under the age of 35. One artist will be awarded and will receive a grant that contributes toward living expenses, travel fees and production costs.

The Darling Foundry is an alternative, professional complex devoted to visual artists and their supporters. With an  outstanding  architectural  design,  the  Darling  Foundry,  located  in an  old  industrial  neighborhood  of Montreal, offers various opportunities for research, creation, production, and exhibition. Its multifaceted spaces include room for private studios, residencies, workshops, art galleries, a restaurant and offices over a 3500 m2 surface.

A live‐in studio as well as access to common areas are provided. Artists have also access to wood and metal workshops, with technical assistance if need be. In addition, each artist is given the option to participate in open studio events, studio visits by art professionals, networking events and excursions.

The residency includes:

‐Airfare (max CAD$ 1,500)

‐A live‐in studio for 11 weeks from September 30 to December 16, 2016

‐A stipend of CAD$ 3300 (CAD$ 300 per week)

‐A production grant of a maximum of CAD$ 500
