1Shanthiroad invites applications from young emerging artists working in and across the following disciplines of New Media: Photography, Film & Video, Animation, Light and Projection, Media Arts, Music & Sound and Technology.

This doesn’t limit it to digital media. We are open to “traditional” art forms, such as painting and sculpture which can be found within this context. We wish to emphasize that dialogue and interaction are characteristic of new media.

 

1Shanthiroad NEXT-STEP residency program will provide a platform for five emerging artists to live at 1Shanthiroad studios for a total of four weeks, have 24/7 access to 1Shanthiroad’s facilities, to produce work individually or collaboratively that culminates into an open studio or final exhibition at the end of the residency. Through peer exchange, mentorship with our in-house staff and artists, and engagement with the local art community through workshops, talks and studio visits, 1Shanthiroad NEXT-STEP will strive to provide the artists an environment conducive for bridging the gap between the early stages of their education and their career beginnings.

 

The NEXT-STEP residency program offers 5 participating artists the following:

Accommodation at 1Shanthiroad Studios

Food (Lunch provided everyday, groceries for other meals)

Round trip transportation (proof required for reimbursement)

Production stipend for each artist to produce work during the one-month Residency

 

Criteria:

– Applicants should have completed their BFA or MFA in Visual Arts. Self-trained artists with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field. Applicable for Indian nationals only.

– A portfolio/Links that includes five of your best works. Please select FIVE ONLY for review

– Write a 250-word purpose of intent

– One letter of Recommendation

 

Deadline July 20, 2018

An independent jury of five will deliberate and select the five artists.

Announcements of selected artists will be made on August 1, 2018.
