VASL Artists’ Collective and Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, with the support of The American Institute for Pakistan Studies, invite applications from junior and mid career faculty members in relevant fields to participate in the Faculty Mentoring Workshop 2015.

Cultural and visual analysis is very salient in understanding the history and the current state of society in Pakistan and beyond. Participants will include faculty in the higher education sector from Karachi. The workshops will focus on assisting participants in developing their own curriculum and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide them with frameworks useful in furthering their individual research projects. The workshop will include readings in theory and practice, guest lecturers, and workshops on writing and curriculum development. While the seminar will not focus on studio practice, its focus on methodological questions concerning history and theory will prove useful for artistic practice.

Enrollment is limited to 12 participants, who are expected to attend the entire workshop. The workshop will be held in Karachi during December 4-12, 2015.

Workshop leader: Zahid Chaudhary (Princeton University, USA), with contributions by Iftikhar Dadi (Cornell University, USA), Hammad Nasar (Hong Kong), and others.
