PHANTOMNESIS Call for Contemporary Works
An international open call for contemporary recorded compositions and music pieces that
explore the forgotten, the almost-forgotten and the reimagined musical histories, including
neglected musical systems, regional practices, extinct gestures and other overlooked aesthetic
pathways. Submissions are free of charge, and selected pieces receive editorial preparation,
mastering and distribution support.
Eligibility and guidelines
Open internationally to composers and sound artists of all backgrounds
- Any instrumentation: acoustic, electronic or mixed
- Duration up to 13 minutes (shorter pieces welcome)
- Submitted music must be a high-quality recorded composition that is production ready
- A brief statement explaining how the piece relates to the theme is required
What to submit
- One production-ready audio file (WAV preferred)
- Title, duration, instrumentation and credits
- A short concept statement describing how the piece interacts with forgotten or reimagined
musical pathways - Optional additional materials such as scores or contextual notes

Phantomnesis invites composers and sound artists worldwide to submit contemporary recorded
compositions and music pieces that engage with forgotten, near-forgotten or reimagined
musical histories. Works may draw on neglected musical systems, regional practices, extinct
gestures or other overlooked aesthetic directions. There is no entry fee. Selected artists receive
editorial preparation, mastering, metadata support and international release through
CambiataArts Records as part of a curated compilation. Composers retain full ownership and
provide only a simple non-exclusive license for publication. Pieces should be production ready
and up to 13 minutes long. Deadline for submissions: February 15, 2026. Applications are
