INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILMS COMPETITION “FRUTTETO”
Corto & Fieno – Rural Film Festival underlines the importance of cinematic representations of rural life in contemporary cinema. The 9th edition of the Festival intends to go on working on these subjects through films dealing with the relationship between man and land. The idea is to draw attention to rural culture, both in Italy and in other parts of the world. “Frutteto” (Orchard) is the international short films contest through which the Festival aims to give space to film projects with a focus on the rural world.
1- The competition is open to everyone.
2- The Festival registration is free. All postal fees are at the participants’ charge.
3- The subject of the film must follow the general theme of the Festival regarding the life and work of the land, the relationship between nature and man from a rural point of view. All genres welcome.
4- The Festival will be held in Omegna and Miasino, Lake Orta (Italy), on 21st, 22nd and 23rd September 2018, according to a schedule that will be announced a few weeks before the start of the event.
5- All submitted works must be a maximum length of 30 minutes. Films both edited and unedited will be accepted, provided that they were completed after 1st January 2016. Maximum 2 films per author.
6- All selected films will be shown during the Festival’s days in the section “Frutteto”. The Festival will get in touch with all directors and authors. If possible, the directors will be invited to the official screening of their work during Corto e Fieno.
The selected films might be requested for additional screenings organized by the Festival (Corto e Fieno OFF), prior consent from each film director.
7- The jury will be composed of personalities from the cinema and cultural world. At the end of the Festival, the winners will be announced. The opinion of the jury cannot be contested.
8- The received copies of the short films will become part of the Festival’s archive and will not be returned.
9- There will be a prize for the winners. The amount will be announced in due time on the website www.cortoefieno.it (Edition 2018 > Jury and prizes).
10- The films must be received by 4th June 2018.
11- All screeners must be accompanied by the entry form completed in its entirety (the entry form is attached to this announcement).
12- A short part of the trailer (or a short excerpt from the film) will be used to create a promo video of all selected films. The video will be uploaded and shared on the Festival’s social media channels, as well as used to promote Corto e Fieno.
13 – The films can be submitted via:
a) An on-line screening link to be sent to the Festival’s e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org
b) A high resolution file on USB stick or in autorun DVD format (in duplicate) to be sent by mail to the Festival:

*** All the directors of the selected works will be contacted by the Festival and requested to send a link to download the high quality file of the movie for the official screening.
