Ammar is an actor and writer, and Associate Artistic Director at Theatre Wallay, an Islamabad based theatre company active since 2005. He has been a regular performer in the company since 2014. He has also toured the US with the company’s original productions. ’Daagh Daagh Ujala,’ a play based on original accounts of Partition survivors toured across the east coast in 2015. He was also part of the company’s tour in the summer of 2017 where they performed at the Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland, and the prestigious Oregon Shakespeare Festival; this production explores the changing nature of public spaces in contemporary Pakistan, and its Urdu version is currently being staged across Pakistan. Ammar completed his Masters in Anthropology at Columbia University on a Fulbright Scholarship, and teaches history and sociology in Islamabad in addition to his work with Theatre Wallay. “
