Bio

Didar is a photographer, blogger, journalist and a culture and language activist. He is currently working as a Culture Development Officer at the Bulbulik Heritage Centre Gulmit, an initiative to preserve and promote the rich but endangered Wakhi/Pamirian heritage of folk music. The Bulbulik Music School has become a significant folk music school of Pakistan, educating the masses to play their part in cultural preservation and promotion. As a photographer, he is documenting the elapsed but rich visual expressions of cultural practices, food, dance, music etc. of the Wakhis of Gojal valley, the remote mountain community living in Karakorum Pakistan. He keenly contributes to encouraging online earning/virtual earning through various freelancing platforms as well entrepreneurship, as there are limited income opportunities available in the high mountains and the number of educated but unemployed youth has been rapidly increasing as a result.
