Ichi Ikeda
Bio
Japanese artist Ichi Ikeda’s practice is strongly themed upon global environmental problems, especially water as the most precious resource, his artworks are widely known as WaterArt projects. His central commitment is to raise global awareness about issues relating to water conservation on the earth, through both large- and small-scale interventions. His art serves as an inspirational focal point for the exchange of water-related information. His interventions include international conferences and seminars, community activism, public performance and interactive installations. Through combining flows of these diversified WaterArt projects, he has been developing world-widely the idea that any place on the earth can function as the starting station for forwarding ‘water for the future’ to the next generation living on the future earth. This is why his WaterArt projects are highly evaluated as ‘art for the future’. He suggests this new perspective viewpoint on social and natural system as the ‘Water’s-Eye View’.
