João Simões (1979) is an artist, independent curator, researcher and professor. His currently artistic practice is focused on the concept of crystal-body – a long term poetic research regarding corporeality, time, technology, ancestry and the exploitation of the Earth. Besides Cláudio Bueno, since 2015, we co-founded Explode! – a platform that fosters artistic and cultural practices with an emphasis on the intersections of class, race, gender, territory and sexuality.
