Kazi Toufikul Islam
Kazi Toufikul Islam has worked as a theatre activist in different theatre companies and acted out various characters for the last twenty years. For his troupe Prachyanat, a reputed theatre company in Dhaka, he has directed many successful plays. Kazi has participated in production based workshops organised by UCLA and Aranyak, conducted by Ammy Trompetor, in 1996. In 2001, he participated in a writing and direction based workshop organised by the Royal Court of London in Bengaluru. He also been part of a production oriented residency which was a mulitimedia theatre collaboration between Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, organised by the Japan Foundation in Tokyo and conducted by five directors from South Asia, in 2004. He attended another workshop based on environmental management titled ‘Let’s Take Care of Planet Earth’ in 2013, held in Egypt. As a faculty member of a prestigious institution, Scholastica, Kazi has several school theatre productions.
