Perth/Boorloo-based artist Luisa Hansal uses a painting practice that she compares to osmosis, gradually absorbing feelings and ideas from daily life outside the studio while constructing an inner dialogue of personally codified colours, symbols and forms. She employs intuition and improvisation to develop abstract compositions, allowing rumination on emotions, trauma, loss, resilience and relief. Recent exhibitions include energy unfolding over some time at TCB (duo show, VIC, 2025), Fireworks at China Heights (group show, NSW, 2024), Gleam at Lightworks (duo show, WA, 2024), and Upward Rush of Devotion at AVA (solo show, WA, 2024). She has been represented by AVA since 2021.
