An art show to bring in notice the Kashmiri art and its destruction amount the international Audience. US Filmmaker, Elayne McCabe, organized the show.
“Terrorism of Peace” September 2008
Open Frames (exploring conflict) Festival, Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India
Organized by Public Service Broadcasting Trust to display artwork in an international film festival about peace and conflict. The installation featured photos and cartoons hanging inside rolls of barbed wire with some empty alcohol bottles. This public exhibition at the festival lasted for 8 days.
“Grave of Chinar” August 2008
Self-organized public exhibit, Srinagar, Kashmir
A self-organized exhibition at a public park where all the Chinar trees are dying due to carelessness. The installation was paintings about green landscapes, people, of Kashmir on the dry peel of the Chinar trees lying broken, scattered on the ground, at their respective places on the ground for the public display. This was all exhibited using the dying grove of Chinar as part of the ambience and backdrop.

“Kashmir in Black and White” April 2006
National Students Film Festival
Anhad, an NGO, Ahmadabad, Gujarat & Srinagar Kashmir
The film festival included 16 selected short films and documentaries from different parts of India. “Kashmir in Black and White”, was declared as the winning movie.
● OTHER WORKS
Kashmirblackandwhite.com – a dynamic website of my work: cartoons, photos, paintings, etc.
Azaadi – a full-length movie by an American-Israeli Filmmaker about the Kashmir conflict. I composed cartoons and contributed frames from my Graphic novel, which are used as part of the narrative.
“Say It’s Possible” Climate Change Concert in Kashmir (December 5, 2009) – designed a set for an awareness-raising concert featuring US singer-songwriter Terra Naomi organized by international development agency, Mercy Corps.
● PUBLICATIONS
“Terrorism of Peace”, a non-fiction graphic novel about my experience as a Kashmiri artist in Delhi. Published by The Caravan, a New Delhi based literary magazine in March 2009.
“Identity Card”, a Non Fiction Graphic Novel by Malik Sajad, “Snowmen and Kalashnikovs: An Anthology of Dispatches from Kashmir”, Picador, UK. Expected release in 2010.
“Lost and Found”, International Center for Literacy and Culture (ICLC), Katmandu, Nepal, 2005.
A book for children of conflict zones titled “Lost and Found”, together with other writers and artist from South Asian countries.
● OTHER PARTCIPATIONS
Poland 2004, International cartoon exhibition for which 30 cartoons were selected out of 1600 works to put in the museum.
Chenai, India 2006, International cartoon exhibition, 20 artworks were selected for the exhibition and publication.
Tehran, Iran 2007, International art exhibition organized by Iran Visual Art House.
● AWARDS
2004 Portrait of the President of India, Chosen by the Directorate of School Education, Jammu & Kashmir, to present a painting to APJ Abu Kalam, the President of India on behalf of Kashmiri students.
2003 Student of the Year Award, Presented by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Mufti Mohd Syed in a state level function of teachers. Was selected on the basis of academics and for being one of the world’s youngest editorial cartoonist.
