Maryam Cheema is the Co-Founder and Festival Director of the Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival, a platform for spreading awareness and for reviving independent filmmaking. It also recognizes the mountain porters in Pakistan who are unsung heroes in their own right. Maryam has worked as a film producer as well a graphic designer in the UK and Pakistan. She recently founded PIYAR, Pakistan Institute for Youth, Artists, and Research, which focusses on providing the underprivileged with opportunities and social integration through arts and culture. The programme includes a mobile film theatre for slums and under-resourced areas. Maryam is an extensive explorer, travelling worldwide to share her passion for bringing people together through art and film.
