Rattanmol Singh Johal is a graduate of The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London, where he investigated the interplay of aesthetics and politics in globalised contemporary art. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art History & Archaeology, studying transformations in contemporary art practice, its institutional contexts and international networks during the long nineties, with a specific focus on the development of installation art in India. He was the C-MAP Fellow for Asia in the Department of Media and Performance Art at MoMA and a Helena Rubinstein Critical Studies Fellow at the Whitney Independent Study Program. Rattan has previously worked in various capacities, including curator, archivist and publications editor at KHOJ.
