Shridhar Hegde Keremane
Bio
Being raised in a cultural environment replete with the influences of art, music, and literature, Sridhar was initiated into Yakshagana in early childhood by his grandfather Late Keremane Shambhu Hegde and attained training in Yakshagana for more than 8 years. Since then he has been learning under his Father Keremane Shivananda Hegde and performing all over India with his artists’ troupe, Mela. He did his Bachelor’s in Science from Bangalore University and has worked in several science research labs. He also learnt Kathak under the guidance of Guru Dr. Maya Rao and completed a Diploma in Choreography from NIKC, Bangalore which gave him new perspectives for direction and choreography of his own art form. He has conducted numerable socio-cultural activities (like national art festivals, programs for school children, gurukuls, dance music research etc) alongside Yakshagana performances. He received a Scholarship for Young Artists by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and is has also been part of the Yakshagana costume and regional temple music documentation project led by Shaale.
