Vandini Mehta


Bio

Vandini Mehta is an architect and independent urban researcher. She is a Visiting Faculty member in the Urban Design Program of SPA (School of Planning and Architecture), New Delhi and at Sushant School of Architecture, Gurgaon. Vandini is the co-founder of Studio VanRO, a design and research firm based in New Delhi that works in the domain of architecture, urbanism and art.  The firm has successfully completed projects in institutional, infrastructure, industrial, landscape, and interior design. As a sister concern of the famed engineering firm, MRC Pvt Ltd, Studio VanRO offers total design consultancy for its projects. Studio VanRO’s interventions are an outcome of several years of international experience, engagement in the public domain through presentations, exhibitions, publications in urban and architectural research and also academic teaching. The firm’s work has been published and presented nationally and internationally and has also won many awards and much recognition.

Vandini received her undergraduate degree from School of Architecture CEPT, Ahmedabad, India (1997) and an MS in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley, USA with a specialisation in Environmental Design in Developing Countries. With a background in non-profit community-based development and architectural work, gained early in her career at Seva Mandir, Udaipur, she worked for five years in New York: first at McBride & Associate, a small design firm and later at Magnusson Architecture and Planning, a firm specialising in social housing solutions in partnership with the community and developers, for mixed use and mixed income housing and planning projects.
