Varda Nisar
Bio
Varda Nisar is an art educator/researcher, whose work actively seeks to create alternate spaces for dialogue with arts and creative expression in the absence of such spaces in her hometown of Karachi, Pakistan. She founded the Karachi Children’s Art Fest in the year 2013, before working as the Head of Educational Programming for the first edition of Karachi Biennale 2017, the largest contemporary art exhibition in Karachi.
As a researcher, she has conducted independent research on the Silawat Community, who migrated from Jaisalmer to Sind, striving to maintain their identity.
She is currently a PhD Candidate in the Art History Department at Concordia University, where her work explores the relationship between museums and national narratives.
