‘An effort to communicate or to do the exact opposite’ is a performance/research work focused on the gestures that emerge when working with technology. The action unfolds as an encounter between a human and a machine within the shared space of making. The process of building a device is the performance. The artist focuses on what takes place, attempting to perpetually delay a final result, keeping the work pulsating and generative.

The gestures of thinking and building are registered through data tracking and documentary practices, to then be reviewed as a form of harvesting patterns and overlooked gestures. At times, the experience extends to the public, adding yet one more layer to the environment. Hesitations, frictions, and the everyday grammar of bodies living alongside each other. The relation between entities is threaded by unstable negotiations: unpredictability, discovery, disagreement, and synchronicities, all within the continuous becoming of possibilities.

The machines, called vehicles, act as companions with their own rhythms and limits. Touched by nostalgia and withdrawal, they overthink. At the same time, they refuse to be seen as ends or products; they resist functionality, doing nothing more than moving and feeling.

With this performance, the artist reflects on uncertainty, attention, and quiet forms of resisting the capitalist call for clarity, speed, or resolution.
