I like to play with ideas of the meaningful and meaningless. In this work, I explored formal relationships between the face and fingers and achieved 108 combinations. including: hands that cover your face like a mask; hand gestures that represent blossoms (a memory from my childhood); and a gun sign that plays with differences in meaning when the fingers are pointed to my head and outwards. Since 2005, when I started my work to now, most my artwork focuses on hands. The reason why I’m interested in the hand is “When I was little, my mother told me that I have hands longer than everyone else. Like those of an artist.” From then on I kept telling myself that I would be an artist when I grew up. I tend to look at my hands as they move, especially when I make art and perform with them.
