Good Presentation
The essence of my native place, Darbhanga in Bihar remains alive in my mind and so are the memories of various small things of my childhood. My mother’s lullaby still plays beautifully in ears and suddenly I see a visual painting on the canvas that I am sleeping on the words of my mother’s lullaby. I was sharing this with friends in Tarumitra. I see my dreams coming true and coming back as an artist in Tarumitra.
The exposure to both rural and urban places have made my artistic vision stark clear which naturally contextualises the plight of the people of Bihar.
From nostalgia to migration and from tradition to urbanization is seen in my presentation in Tarumitra Good Presentation. The inspiration for this work is the handmade art submitted to my teacher for the school examination. These presentations were made up of ropes, the strength of which was the parameter of excellence. In my presentation I have come up with a pillar of ropes. Here, the pillar is suggestive of the multifarious developments which are taking place in the metropolis, whereas the rope embodies the soul of the soil and also is a symbol of labour. Angst and pain arise in me when I see that the rural people of Bihar play a vital role in the development of the infrastructure of metropolis and yet they do not enjoy the benefits. The artwork eventually suggests the loss of tradition in the process of urbanization and hence, the ‘traditional’ rope of the pillar that provides support to the process of urbanization.
