HONEYBEES GATHERING ..
The idea of her work here came from the tattered meshes around the semi-circular foyer of the Uttarayan building in the Ashram. She started thinking of a nice way to replace them. As she sat there watching sunlight filtering through and lasting shadows on the floor, the idea of replacing the tattered mesh with a new one, embroidered with numerous honeybees came to her – Honeybees Gathering … She thought of bees as an appropriate metaphor for life and its sweetness. In addition, the concept was in tune with the philosophy of the Ashram crystallized in the words collect, nourish, preserve cycle. Her work also integrates the tradition of local craft, Sikki, visible in the wings of the honeybees.
