Mickey Prayer Flag
Tibetan prayer flags are traditionally hung outdoors to be a festive visual reminder of the doctrines of the Buddha, spreading compassion, health and fortune upon the winds.
This contemporary version created in collaboration with Tibetan poet Bhuchung D. Sonam, serves as a reminder of that original intention transformed (lost?) in today’s modern world. The wrathful face of Mickey Mouse serves as a symbol of loss of innocence. By placing these modern flags into the cityscape, the intention is to snap people out of their everyday routine to contemplate the meaning even for just a moment.
