Ashok Sukumaran
Bio
Mumbai-based Ashok Sukumaran has a degree in architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles. His recent, widely exhibited work lies at the intersection of human habitats and the technologies embedded within. These projects engender a broad investigation of ‘infrastructure’, and of the possibility of human agency within it. The work frequently combines elements of computer-based art, telematics, electricity, writing and architecture. His projects have received many awards, recently the Golden Nica (for Interactive art), at the Prix Ars Electronica 2007, and the
first prize of the UNESCO Digital Arts Award, 2005.
