Rajyashree Ramamurthi, who also goes by the name Madame Potty, is a performer, dance educator, video dance maker, and raconteur based in Pune. She is trained in Odissi and Contemporary Dance. Ramamurthi graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Dance and Visual Art from Brighton, UK, and went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Design. She enjoys teaching Performing Arts and telling stories to students at Aman Setu School. She has been making movement-based work since 2001. Choreographic motifs and rhythms intrinsic to a specific site are often starting points of her creation process. Ramamurthi likes to work in collaboration with practitioners from a variety of disciplines. Her works have been shown in places such as the Royal Opera House and Sadlers Wells in London, among other international venues, including the Shriram Centre in Delhi.
