Sagar Shiriskar
Bio
Sagar Shiriskar’s work spans film, video & photo installations, photo essays, and cinematography.
His recently finished debut feature-length documentary film will be screened at the 57th Solothurn Film Festival and has been nominated for the Opera Prima Award. He was recently awarded the studio grant from the city of Dübendorf in Switzerland. He was also the Artist in Residence at Cima Città, Ticino, Kunsthaus Klosters, and at Fundaziun Nairs, Graubünden. His work “Manoranjan Nagri” was exhibited at the December Exhibition, Kunst Museum Winterthur, Switzerland; he was also a part of the Artist-in-residence program at Villa Straüli where his work was exhibited, and some of his work is also part of its permanent collection.
His work has also been exhibited at Rathaus für Kultur Lichtensteig, Switzerland, at KHOJ, Delhi as part of the PEERS residency. His photographs were exhibited as part of Project Cinema City at the National Gallery of Modern Art, as part of the Traveling Nikon Photo Contest 2016-2017 Photo Exhibition [Winner Next Generation Award, Photo Story]
His short films have been screened in festivals across India and internationally, as part of the New Voices in Cinema, Goethe-Institut India. He was the winner of a documentary series produced by Hyde Park Entertainment Inc. & United Nations. As part of the competition, he co-directed three short documentary films on the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The winning film was screened at the UN Headquarters in New York and honored with special recognition at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. He was also awarded the Prince Claus Mobility Fund for Culture and Development.
