Bio

Saira Sheikh is a visual artist, educator and researcher negotiating the milieus of art, academia, and the institutions of power inherent therein. She is currently assistant professor at the School of Visual Arts and Design at Beaconhouse National University and heads the graduate programs at the School. Sheikh was the recipient of the Fulbright Award from 2007-2009 and the Myers Art Prize, Columbia University, in 2008. Sheikh has exhibited widely, most recently in mirror mirror on the wall, Rohtas2, Lahore. She holds an Ed.M. in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BFA from the National College of Arts.
