Sudeshna Chatterjee
Bio
A research affiliate of the Children, Youth and Environments Center for Research and Design at the University of Colorado in Boulder, USA; Sudeshna Chatterjee is also the News Archive Editor of the international, peer-reviewed journal Children, Youth and Environments. Deeply engaged in writing, teaching and continued study of the urban and human environments, she is equally involved in professional practice as a partner in the design practice of Kaimal Chatterjee and Associates. Her research and teaching focuses on issues around urbanization, globalization, vision, reality and experience of cities; the politics of displacement and urban development; construction of meaning in place; childhood, children and young people’s agency and the production and consumption of space, and child friendly cities.
With a Masters in Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and a Ph.D. in Community and Environmental Design from College of Design, North Carolina State University, she is a visiting faculty in the graduate departments of Urban Design and Urban Planning in the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
