Toilet-Temple
The project made an attempt to transform the physical site of a secluded toilet at the Chaudhuri Bari, a 19th century colonial building of a landowner from Bengal. The toilet here deceptively appeared like a small old temple. In a traditional set-up like the Chaudhuri Bari, both the temple/altar and the toilet remained separated from
the main building. These two spaces, characteristically opposite to each other, stood like the North Pole and
the South Pole never to meet at a point. The toilet was essentially physical in nature while the altar was spiritual. In the project, I made an attempt to reconcile the two spaces, which have many physical resemblances.
