Wasim Wani (Srinagar)
Wasim Mushtaq Wani was born in 1973 in Kupwara in Kashmir. He is a founder member of Contemporary Art Foundation ( NGO to practice and promote art awareness in Kashmir), which was active from 1995 to 1999. He received a BFA degree from the Institute of Music & Fine Art, Srinagar in 2000 and an MFA in Painting from Visva Bharati Santinekatan in 2003. He has participated in numerous exhibitions of contemporary art as well as held solo exhibitions of his work. In 2008, Wasim presented two Short Films ( Rahi Zindagi tu Phir Milenge and Shopkeeper) in the workshop ‘Logistics of Perception: Images from Conflict Zones’ organized by MAJLIS( Mumbai) at Adi Shakti Pondichery. He is currently a lecturer in the department of Fine Art, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.
