Yash Vyas

Bio

Yash Vyas emerges as a distinguished visual artist originating from Saurashtra in  East Gujarat, India. His adeptness lies in unearthing and delving into abandoned  locales that echo within his body, as well as in the pursuit of overlooked domains  and objects imbued with personal significance. Yash frequently retraces his steps  to his hometown via freight trains and buses, capturing these locales through his  lens as this process functions as a dual source of deliberate and receptive  inspiration for his artistic endeavors. Yash’s artistic methodology revolves around  the intricate interplay of construction and deconstruction, collection and  duplication, skillfully weaving together the dichotomies of space, structure,  memory, and culture within the realm of his creative fabrication.

Educationally, Yash holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Visual Art – Sculpture from the esteemed Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad University of Baroda.  He garners recognition from esteemed national institutions, including the Royal  Academy of Arts – Karnataka, and the All India Fine Art Association Amritsar.  Notably, Yash earned the esteemed Mrinalini Mukherjee Artist Grant in 2021.

Yash’s artistic expressions have graced the walls of numerous prestigious galleries  across India, spanning cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, Bhopal and  Karnataka. In spite of the challenging pandemic landscape, he remarkably  contributed to an online solo exhibition and four online group exhibitions.  Moreover, Yash actively engaged in the Student’s Biennale 2021 Workshop titled  ‘Unmaking Conventions,’ led by the erudite Prof. Sanchayan Ghosh. He also  participated in the Khoj Peers residency in 2022, a program culminating in an  exhibition at Khoj Studios, New Delhi.

His creations found an audience at significant venues such as Dhoomimal Gallery  and Bikaner House in New Delhi, where he participated in the annual Group  Show. Yash’s participation extended to the group exhibition ‘Allegories of Space’  at The Lexicon Art Gallery, New Delhi, in December 2022. Early in 2022, he had  engaged in a notable collaboration with the Conflictorium Museum (Ahmedabad)  and Stroom Den Haag (Netherlands), a project titled ‘Elephant in the Room,’  which subsequently gained recognition through publication in May 2023.

Yash Vyas also played a pivotal role in Gallery XXL’s inaugural exhibition  ‘OUTSIDERS,’ a captivating display showcased in Colaba, Mumbai, from May to  June 2023. More Recently, Yash exhibited his works alongside Gulam  Mohammad Sheikh, Jyotsna Bhatt, Jyoti Bhatt, Bhupen Khakhar, Raghav Kaneria,  N.S Bendre, Naina Dalal, and K.G Subramanyan at The Horizon Gallery

Vadodara. Furthermore, he is set to participate in a group show titled “Rupak”  with the Hidden Artist Initiative in May.
