Re-Visiting Khirkee Masjid Through Drawing

This was a drawing workshop on a winter afternoon organised by KHOJ at the Khirkee Masjid to help the participants break down elements of the 14th century monument through the lenses of perspective, the play of light and shadow, texture and scale. The workshop was also an introduction to the use of charcoal in drawing for most participants.

About this programme

Students of Swarna Public School re-visited the Khirkee Masjid for a drawing session organized by KHOJ.  Radha and Ishita from the KHOJ team helped the students break down elements of the 14th century monument through the lenses of perspective, the play of light and shadow, texture and scale. Most of them were using charcoal for the first time and were quite excited as they discovered the various ways in which they could use it. They also enjoyed some preliminary exercises that helped them better their line quality. It was a fun afternoon under the winter sun, and the students enjoyed expressing their observations in their unique individual ways.
