About this programme
Tipping Point was a collaboration, commissioned by KHOJ, between an artist and a scientist that ran for a year. The nature of the collaboration was interdisciplinary which facilitated the exploration of ideas and possible research through art at the frontiers of science.
As a scientist interested in space and weather and as an artist who identifies herself psycho-pathologically with the sun respectively, Dipankar Banerjee and Neha Choksi embarked on a yearlong collaboration of solar study and visual creation. The work combined inspiration from the history of the science of solar weather, solar imaging techniques, and our changing understanding of visuality. The perception of the sun as a unique element of the landscape which perpetually recurs as if in rehearsal for the final fatal sunset manifested as theatrical expression in the joint work.
