Anjum Singh used mirrors as her primary medium for this project. Mirrors, according to her, expanded many possibilities of thought. Her project was layered with meaning, yet the axis of it lies in the optical layering and the tension that emerged between the painted and the reflected image-the still and the dynamic. The reflective quality of the hard mirror made Singh’s work interactive. There’s an aspect of carefree play when one looks at a mirror, finding an ‘other’ while also recognizing themselves. The work aimed to aid the viewer in reflecting within and finding their true being while also becoming a part of the image they see.
