False Clouds and Real Deluges
In an effort to foreground climate change through my practice, I have been engaging with moving and still images, material and imaginings along the course of the 28° North Parallel in India. Using Osip Mandelstam’s premise that “…the stone is the weather….” I have attempted to collect ‘weather’ that such an immersive experience threw up, particularly where human presence was palpable, as diaristic documents of the weather’s history, to make propositions about the alarming changes in climate conditions. The attempted diagnosis, an ear to the ground, of the regions’ and the world’s now unpredictable extreme weather patterns, is presented through a sampling of its meteorology, offering meditations on an inundated future.
