As a precursor to Modulating Realities: Networks of Sonic Thinking at Sarai-CSDS (December 14-15), Khoj hosted Data Audit / Why Listen to Datasets? – An experimental listening workshop with Joel Stern, a collaborator on Capture All and co-founder of Machine Listening

In the workshop, participants listened to datasets as sites of both power and possibility, critique and creativity. Moving between lecture, conversation, and a series of listening tests, the workshop considered how auditory datasets are compiled, stored and processed, and how different modes of listening might reveal a world of social relations – of labour, ownership, and context – embedded within them.
