The Arthshila X Khoj Artist Residency is a search for exceptionally talented artists working in Ceramics, Sculpture and Printmaking. We are looking for creative practitioners who have developed their artistic voice and have something to say.

About this edition

Khoj and Arthshila are pleased to announce the artists for the fourth edition of the Arthshila X Khoj Artist Residency—a fully-funded, on-site residency at Parivartan in Siwan, Bihar.

Set in Siwan, Bihar, Parivartan is an initiative of the Takshila Educational Society dedicated to integrated rural development across 21 villages in 8 panchayats. Its work spans education, theatre, sports, agriculture, women’s empowerment and livelihood projects, all aimed towards expanding the idea of freedom through capacity building.

This residency is designed for artists whose practice either aligns with or seeks to meaningfully engage with the ethos of Parivartan.

Special thanks to the jury members Atul Bhalla, Kristine Michael, and Parul Gupta, for reviewing the long list of applications presented by the Khoj curatorial team, and selecting this year’s artists-in-residence.

Eligibility

  • This opportunity is for Indian nationals only
  • Early to Mid-Career artists with a substantive studio practice
  • Self-taught artists with a minimum of 3 years of experience

Application requirements

  • Resume / CV
  • Up to 10 images of previous works with a short concept note or explanatory text accompanying it (preferably as a small sized .pdf format) Please note – Videos to be sent as links only (with viewing permission)
  • Details of 2 referees (Name, Relationship to the Applicant, Email, Phone Number) who may be senior artists or any other creative practitioners who have been following your work intimately
  • A brief statement describing how this opportunity will help your practice. This could be either a pdf file (400 words max.) / audio file / video file in Hindi or English
