A fly in the milk I
The work operates at the intersection of memory, displacement, and cultural identity. The chosen imagery ranges from distorted photographs of family, to a mapping of routes taken to school in Kenya and Australia, a primary site of where my assimilation began—each layer contributes to an entanglement of displacement, flux and fluidity inherent in diasporic identity. Overlaying distorted images becomes a reconciliation of the fragmented and reconstructed nature of memory and identity.
