About this programme

Telephone Pyaar was a project which generated fictional telephonic conversations between young lovers. This project was in collaboration with the youth from the Khirkee community and involved a workshop with 5-7 young people who would explore the idea of love as they saw it. During the course of the workshop popular films were viewed, beloved songs were listened to and texts which are centered around love were explored. There were plans to tour ‘love sites’ in the neighborhood including graffiti on street corners or monuments, post class dating spots, PCO booths, and internet cafes. The discussions which followed from these interactions attempted to delineate the classic scenarios and conflicts around the idea of love; the aim was to transgress social boundaries, class conflicts, caste divides unrequited feelings, blind love, etc. These ideas were then reconstructed into fictional phone conversations that were scripted and performed by the workshop participants.
