Visual Poetry and Body Calligraphy was a participatory community based art project implemented in collaboration with the deaf community in New Delhi. The aim of the art project was to explore disability and representation through a range of performative concepts. The goal was to explore the body as a tool for language and visual communication.

About this programme

Visual Poetry and Body Calligraphy, organised by Jose Abad Lorente and supported by Deaf Ways, the Spanish Embassy, and KHOJ, was based on interdisciplinary arts that blend Spanish poetry, photography, Indian sign language, body movement, and gesture. This was a participatory community based art project, implemented within the deaf community in New Delhi, that aimed to explore disability and representation through a range of different performative concepts and to he goal was to explore the body as a site and tool for linguistic as well as visual communication.
