Khoj International Residency August - September 2025
Through the Khoj International Residency, Khoj wishes to support and incubate experimental creative practices that are across disciplines and are looking at art and its various intersections such as gender, urbanisms, ecology and technology.
About this edition
Building on Khoj’s long-standing engagement with the intersections of art and urbanism, the Khoj International Residency August – September 2025 seeks to explore responses to the complexities of high-density built and natural environments. This iteration of the residency invites artists from Australia, France, Russia, and India whose practices critically engage with the nuances of urban density—whether in terms of spatial occupation, the architectural fabric of cities, urban planning, or the layered ecosystems of communities and public spaces.
This residency aims to foster dialogue on how dense environments shape our understanding of place, community, and belonging, offering a platform for experimental, interdisciplinary approaches that push the boundaries of urban thinking through art. While works may explore these themes through suggested mediums—such as site-specific installations, participatory projects, sensorial experiences, food practices, or digital explorations—artists are encouraged to interpret and engage with the residency’s themes in their own unique ways, reflecting critically on the transformations of contemporary urban life. Questioning how architecture, spatial dynamics, and social interactions are influenced by dense urban environments.
